Hi, I’m Elma.
The Ethereal Muse Archives began as a deeply personal attempt to make sense of experiences I struggled to put into words.
After living with bipolar disorder since the age of nineteen and surviving sexual assault, I became increasingly interested in the ways memory, identity, and healing shape the stories we tell about ourselves.
What began as a private creative project evolved into an archive of symbolic collections known as Muses. Through fashion, objects, immersive environments, film, and storytelling, each collection preserves a different facet of the human experience.
My goal is not simply to display beautiful things. It is to create spaces where difficult experiences can be transformed into something meaningful, remembered, and shared.
The archive continues to be independently funded and developed by hand from its studio in Nashua, New Hampshire.
My Approach
Preservation Through Storytelling
The archive approaches fashion, art, and memory as historical documents.
Rather than treating clothing and objects as decoration, each acquisition becomes evidence of a story, emotion, experience, or transformation.
Memory & Identity
Every Muse preserves a different aspect of human identity.
Together they form a growing collection exploring the stories we carry, the experiences we survive, and the people we become.
Mental Health & Recovery
Many collections are informed by experiences of bipolar disorder, recovery, resilience, and the ongoing process of becoming.
The archive seeks to make these conversations visible through beauty rather than stigma.
